ten degrees south is a Swahili-style rustic retreat situated on the shores of the
Indian Ocean in southern Tanzania.
The lodge provides comfortable and clean accommodation for ECO2,
a neighbouring Scuba Dive operation set up in 2000 by Dr Martin Guard.
There is also a beautiful shaded bar and seafood restaurant to
enjoy.

The newly established Mnazi
Bay marine park is reputed to be one
of the best dive sites in Africa. The lodge itself is situated in the sleepy
town of Mikindani in the Mtwara region, an undiscovered
outpost, reminiscent of Zanzibar
stone-town.

Ten
degrees was started by 5 people from England who had travelled to Tanzania
inspired by the story of Latham Leslie Moore, The
Sultan of Msimbati
.Ten degrees south was the first lodge in Mikindani, and opened its doors in 1997.
Since
then hundreds of guests have visited, to swim in the wonderful nearby beaches
of the Indian Ocean, to go diving in the stunning Mnazi
Bay Marine
Park, or to just enjoy sundowners overlooking
the natural harbour
of Mikindani bay.
The lodge is famed
for it’s ‘Robinson Crusoe’ style
expeditions to the stunning Ruvula
Beach where it’s
possible to spot whales at certain times of the year and camp out on the
beach under the stars in complete safety. Our staff will also provide food and cook
delicious barbeques and make sure you are looked after.
